IBC Talent Programme

Bringing the industry together to bridge the looming talent gap in media and broadcast.

MONDAY 16 SEPTEMBER, HALL 8 FREE-TO-ATTEND

Following extensive research, IBC has been examining what it can do to help the media and broadcast industry address this talent gap. Attracting and retaining diverse talent, along with addressing various skills shortages remains a huge problem for the industry and IBC is planning a programme of sessions dedicated to how we can work together tackle this problem.

Working with key stakeholders, partners and the IBC owners we’ll examine the benefits of partnerships and mentoring, best practices for promoting the industry to the next generation, how to drive engagement from all and where the long-term solutions should and will come from. This programme of sessions will be free to attend for all IBC attendees and exhibitors on Monday, 16 September in the IBC Showcase Theatre in Hall 8.

Key topics to be discussed will include:

  • Optimal pathways into the industry
  • Making training as accessible as possible for all
  • Talent retention – how to keep and nurture the new workforce
  • Developing commonly held standards on D&I
  • How addressing the talent gap needs to be driven from within the industry

World Skills Café

The inaugural IBC World Skills Café will be held from 2pm – 5pm on Thursday 12 September at RAI Amsterdam.

Currently, there is no dedicated global forum for knowledge-sharing and information on best practice around how to address these issues, or any established methods to understand how organisations can work together to confront these challenges.

The inaugural World Skills Café aims to address these issues, providing a focal point for sharing in-depth, first-hand experiences while providing an innovation hub for developing tangible solutions to workplace and diversity challenges.

The event will unite broadcasters, streaming brands, technology vendors, outside broadcast (OB) companies, studios, diversity leaders, recruiters and education representatives to drive discussions in collaborative workshops and panels throughout the afternoon. Facilitators and experts from across the skills, education and diversity landscape will lead the sessions, encouraging interactive participation and active contributions toward the outcomes and any commitments made.
