TIMELINE

Name of Project: Stream Anywhere

Recipient: Timeline Television

With: Apple, BT Sport, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Nike, Premier League, Formula E, Amazon, Netflix, Twenty Twenty

Project summary: All the major broadcasters in the UK were faced with the challenge of maintaining production values in live programming, with talent at a range of remote locations, often in their homes. Supporting a broad range of popular programmes, Timeline accelerated development of its Stream Anywhere app. A kit including two iPhones and a remote controlled PTZ camera is sent to the presenter: engineers in master control can colour match and rack the camera as well as pan, tilt and zoom, to be streamed live in full broadcast quality. The second iPhone provides talkback, and an iPad can be added to the set-up for reverse video.

NETFLIX

Name of Project: Sol Levante

Recipient: Netflix

With: Production IG

Project summary: While live-action content has been produced in 4k and HDR for years, Japanese anime has struggled to upgrade production pipelines. Looking for workflow efficiencies that would provide more creative freedom and a wider creative palette, Netflix initiated a project for 2D hand-drawn anime to leverage 4k and HDR from conceptualisation to finish. The result was Sol Levante: a first-of-its-kind original anime designed in experimental 4k and HDR, and lifted by immersive audio, with production assets released in the public domain for open experimentation.
