Jon Freedman is the Senior Vice President of Media Broadcasting at the PGA TOUR, where he leads production and programming in partnership with the TOUR’s broadcast network partners: CBS Sports, NBC Sports, and Golf Channel. With over 27 years of experience at the PGA TOUR, Freedman has been instrumental in driving innovation and transforming how fans experience the game of golf.
Most recently, Freedman played a key role in developing and launching augmented reality from a live moving drone, an industry-first technology that revolutionizes how viewers follow ball flight in real time from never-before-seen aerial angles. This breakthrough debuted at the 2024 Travelers Championship and earned the prestigious George Wensel Technical Achievement Award at the 46th Sports Emmy Awards.
Under his leadership, the TOUR has expanded its use of cutting-edge production tools, including specialty cameras and advanced graphics systems, to deliver more immersive, coverage across all 18 holes. These enhancements have significantly boosted audience engagement across both traditional broadcast and streaming platforms.
Freedman’s collaborative approach with network partners has helped modernize the broadcast model for golf, balancing innovation with a strong commitment to storytelling and precision.
Prior to the PGA TOUR, he spent time at ESPN and the CBS affiliate in Boston, MA
He is a graduate of Franklin Pierce University and is based at PGA TOUR headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
