David Lowen

Honorary Secretary and Trustee
David is a television and news executive of wide experience and consultant adviser to broadcasters, programme makers and financial institutions. He was board Director of Network Programme Development and later board Director of Corporate Development for ITV Yorkshire Television before leading ITV Network’s digital terrestrial television launch project in the UK, the first successful such launch in the world.

David runs International Television and Media Consulting Ltd, with many European broadcasters among its clients and is co-owner of a format development company, Format Futures. He is formerly Director General of Euronews and chairman of the quoted software company, SysMedia Group plc.

He is a board member and former President of CIRCOM, the organisation of Europe’s regional public service media providers, and currently President and organiser of its Europe-wide programme and TV news skills awards.

David is chair of the board of one of the UK’s largest universities, Leeds Beckett, with 28,000 students. He is deputy chair of the CUC – dealing with the governance of all English universities – and chair of the UCAS Council, overseeing all university applications in the UK.

He is also Honorary Secretary and trustee of the Royal Television Society; Honorary Fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge; and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
