Stig Møller Christensen
Stig Møller Christensen is Senior Vice President, Pay-TV at TV2, Denmark’s largest commercial broadcast group. He is overseeing all strategic and commercial aspects of TV2’s channel distribution, operator partnerships and business development of TV 2s pay-tv portfolio. This comprises six paid linear channels as well as TV2’s OTT/ Direct to Consumer offering TV2 PLAY.
In 2012 he oversaw the implementation of a new business model for TV 2s main channel - transforming itself from a purely ad-funded FTA channel to an encrypted pay-tv carriage + advertising model.
TV2 PLAY offers both linear TV and SVOD based on TV 2s popular local programming. Stig was instrumental when TV 2 in 2018 successfully introduced a new Hybrid VOD product (discounted subscription with VOD advertising), and the HVOD product has since accounted for a significant share of new subscriber acquisitions.
TV 2 is a rare example of a European OTT provider utilizing a hybrid business model to accelerate growth and attract younger, more price sensitive, audiences to a paid tv service. This has also allowed TV 2 to build market leadership in the new, fast-growing advertising category ‘adressable TV in tandem with the growing subscription business. As such, TV 2 PLAY accounts for the bulk of all revenue growth at TV 2.
Stig has been with TV2 for the past eight years, after spending four years at QVARTZ (Nordic strategy consulting firm) and three years at Berlingske (Danish newspaper group).
He obtained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Political Science from the University of Copenhagen. In addition, he holds a master’s degree from Warwick Business School, UK, and has attended M.I.T. Sloan and INSEAD for executive education.
