Noriyuki Shirai joined Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) in 2004. Firstly, he belonged to Nagoya Station. He had maintenance and equipment renewal of the transmitting site in the Nagoya area. Since 2009, he had belonged to Transmission & Reception Engineering Center, Engineering Administration Department. He has experienced the broadcasting network design for terrestrial TV digitalization, and also for the relocation of Tokyo master station. Since 2013, he has been working in Science & Technology Research Laboratories. He has contributed to the development of an 8K UHDTV camera system and high dynamic range television (HDR-TV) image format called “Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG)”. Currently, his work focuses on the research and development of the advanced ISDB-T.
