President, SET - Brazilian Society of Television Engineering
Liliana Nakonechnyj is the current president of SET-Brazilian Society of Television Engineering, and serves as councilor on the National Council of Social Communication, a consultative body to the Brazilian Senate. Liliana graduated as telecommunications engineer from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. She worked for TV Globo for over three decades, mostly leading introduction of new distribution technologies and their deployment throughout the network - from analog to digital - and was also responsible for engineering guidance to the affiliated TV stations. From 1994, Liliana lead studies and tests for the introduction of terrestrial digital television in Brazil, and was highly involved in bodies which helped launch digital TV in the country, such as the SBTVD-Brazilian Forum of Digital Television and GIRED- Group for Deployment of Digital TV and Redistribution of TV Channels. Always interested in state-of-the-art technologies, from 2013 Liliana addressed UHDTV, through studies, demonstrations and tests of UHDTV in collaboration with NHK. She was also technical advisor to broadcast associations such as ABERT- Brazilian Association of Broadcasters and AIB- Association of International Broadcasting and was a founding member of FoBTV.
