Jorma Kivelä is the co-founder and CTO of Jutel Oy, Finland. He was born in Oulu in 1956 and has Master of Science degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Oulu. In addition to his professional career he is active in his hometown local city administration. In the summertime, you can usually find him sailing somewhere in the Baltic Sea.
Mr Kivelä has more than 34 years of experience in global broadcasting technology and media asset management development. He has held CEO and CTO positions in several broadcast technology companies including Jutel Oy and Jutron Oy. He has been active in creating several high-tech companies and spin-offs in Finland and acted as chairman of the board in multiple companies.
Mr Kivelä has been active in broadcast systems design, design of high-end analog audio consoles as well as developing software for digital media systems. As a CTO of Jutel he has been leading the high level design and architecture of the RadioMan radio production and playout platform for major national broadcasters. He has also had a major role in various system integration tasks including scheduling tools, different MOS-based newsroom systems, and archiving and distribution platforms. For the last few years he has been mostly involved in IP-audio, web-based architectures and cloud utilization for broadcast purposes.
Before starting at Jutel, Jorma Kivelä did research work on telecommunications, RF technology and digital ASIC design methodologies and tools at the University of Oulu. At Jutel, he has also been involved in research projects working on possible ways to utilize 5G mobile network technologies for broadcast production and distribution. He holds several patents on audio/telecommunications including Visual Radio technology.
