Ujwal N Nirgudkar

Ujwal Nirgudkar has over 42 years of experience working in the Indian film industry, specializing in film preservation and restoration. A Chemical Engineer by education, Ujwal has played a crucial role in the $100 million USD National Film Heritage Mission, serving as Chief Technical Advisor for KPMG from 2016 to 2023. This film digitization and restoration project was implemented by the National Film Archives of India, Government of India.
In addition to his work in film preservation, Ujwal advises the Government of Maharashtra on Filmcity and the Government of India on film festivals and other projects. He is also an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the Production & Technology Branch, as well as the Academy's Science & Technology Council.

Ujwal is currently the Chair of the SMPTE India Section, contributing to the advancement of industry standards and practices.
