Tim Richards
Tim has more than 30 years’ experience in the global media industry having worked for blue-chip media organisations such as Hallmark, QVC and Disney where he was Executive Vice President, Operations. He is an experienced C-level executive and strategy consultant with more than 25 years’ international board experience.
Tim now helps run a technology start-up, Hoptroff, providing Traceable Time as a Service (TTaaS®) to the financial services and media verticals around the world. The business supplies precision timing for the digital world by using distributed computer infrastructure to synchronize server clocks in different locations to Universal Time (UTC) without the need to install additional timing hardware. UTC is delivered through existing networks and is available in the Cloud.
As a world expert on media operations, technology and business practices who has launched and run successful multi-media businesses all over the world, Tim has been attending IBC for 30 years and now enjoys chairing the board of such a prestigious and vital organisation.
Tim began his career as an independent producer and has worked extensively in the TV News business. As Head of Broadcasting for QVC, he was instrumental in establishing home shopping in the UK in 1993. He sat on the boards of a number of Disney’s international media investments and was Chairman of Disney’s Global Media Technology Board.
Tim is an Honorary Fellow, SCTE and long-standing member of the RTS and IET.
