Rufael Mekuria

Dr. Rufael Mekuria is a principal/chief engineer at Huawei. He is specializing in multimedia streaming and multimedia in mobile networks. He earned his PhD from VU University Amsterdam, and was a researcher at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) . His work was awarded with the IEEE TCSVT best paper award. Mekuria has been active in media standardization for over 15 years in organizations such as MPEG, DASH-IF, DVB , 3GPP, AVS and other organizations. His recent research and focus is on AI related traffic characteristics and representing Huawei in 3GPP SA4 as lead delegate.
