Roberto Iacoviello

Roberto Iacoviello, a graduate of the Politecnico di Torino, is Lead Research Engineer. He has been a part of Rai R&D since 2007, where he has honed a variety of skills. These include end-to-end video compression, the development of computer vision algorithms, and the creation of augmented and virtual reality experiences. Currently, his research is cantered on Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, and Virtual Production in the realm of broadcast television.
In addition, Roberto leads two groups at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU): the Video Evaluation group and the Immersive Media group. He also is an active participant in MPEG meetings. Roberto has contributed to several projects funded by the European Commission, including 5G-City, 5G-TOURS, AI4MEDIA, and currently XRECO. He has led multiple IBC Accelerator projects, including the ongoing initiative titled "A Framework for Generative AI", which explores the integration of generative technologies into media production workflows.
