Roberto Iacoviello

Roberto Iacoviello leads the Innovation Group at Rai Radiotelevisione Italiana’s R&D department, where he has been driving innovation in broadcast technology since 2007. A graduate of Politecnico di Torino, his research is currently focused on Artificial Intelligence, Generative AI, and Virtual Production in the context of broadcast media.
Roberto plays a key role in several international standardisation and innovation initiatives. He leads two expert groups at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU): the Video Evaluation Group (2021 - present) and the Immersive Media Group (2024 - present). He is the Head of Delegation of the Italian National Body regarding MPEG and JPEG standardisation activities (ISO/IEC/JTC1/SC29).
He has led multiple IBC Accelerator projects, including "A Framework for Generative AI" and “FRAMES, Federated Retrieval, Agentic Media Environment and Software-Defined Workflows”
