Roberto Iacoviello
Roberto Iacoviello is a Lead Research Engineer with a degree from the Politecnico di Torino. Since 2007, he has been working at Rai R&D, where he has developed a wide range of skills, including end-to-end video compression for broadcast, computer vision algorithms, augmented and virtual reality, and multimodal interfaces for TV, smartphones, and head-mounted displays. His current research is focused on artificial intelligence applied to video compression and point clouds, next-generation television services, and virtual production in broadcast television.
He leads the Video Evaluation and the Computer Graphics Animation groups at the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and actively participates in MPEG and MPAI meetings. He has established collaborations with national and international research institutes, in research and student tutoring projects, and has several publications in international journals and conferences. He has worked on several EC-funded projects, including 5G-City, 5G-TOURS, AI4MEDIA, and XRECO.
