Ralph joined BBC Studios in 2018 and has overall responsibility for BBC Studios Productions globally which - via its units, owned labels and invested indies - produces more than 2500 hours a year of high-quality, distinctive programmes.  BBC Studios is the biggest supplier of content to the BBC as well as serving a sweep of global customers including the BBC, Apple TV+, Amazon, Netflix, Channel 4, UKTV, Discovery and Disney +.  Ralph has presided over BBC Studios Productions achieving unrivalled creative recognition - winning 111 awards and 400 nominations in the last financial year – and becoming the most awarded production group at the BAFTA and RTS Awards.

BBC Studios Productions world-class capabilities cover the Scripted, Factual, Global Formats and Kids and Family genres, with a diverse portfolio of titles including Dancing with the Stars, Happy Valley 3, EastEnders, Good Omens, The Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, Fight The Power, Frozen Planet II, The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, Silent Witness, Black Ops, Top Gear and children’s worldwide smash hit, Bluey  – plus original podcast series Vishal and Believe in Magic.

Ralph also introduced an innovative, industry-leading culture and leadership initiative called The Pledge across all BBC Studios productions, in response to wider challenges within the industry empowering senior leaders to take responsibility for behaviour on their sets and to provide clarity and support to all team members – whether on or off-screen.

With 25 years’ experience in the UK’s television sector before joining BBC Studios, Ralph was Deputy Chief Creative Officer at Channel 4, where he also held a number of commissioning roles including Head of Factual and Head of Specialist Factual. Prior to his commissioning roles Ralph was a Producer/Director of documentaries specialising in history, arts and biography working both at the BBC and in the independent sector.
