Phil Brown

Phil Brown has 30 years’ experience in spectrum and network planning for terrestrial broadcast and mobile networks, including the development of propagation models for terrestrial broadcast, and the implementation of planning tools. He was member of the planning team for the initial deployment of DTT in the UK, and subsequent network developments including coexistence studies with mobile services. Phil has worked on spectrum activities for a range of networks and applications including Digital Terrestrial Television, Digital Audio Broadcasting, Wireless Broadband and Dynamic Spectrum Access. He has contributed work to groups in the EBU, ITU, Broadcast Networks Europe, and UK Ofcom. Phil has been a leading contributor to Arqiva’s work on Positioning, Navigation and Time. Recent research work has focussed on the energy efficiency of terrestrial broadcast networks and approaches for reduction of the environmental impact, while maintaining service quality. Phil graduated with a PhD in electronic engineering from the University of Birmingham, UK.
