Niven leads the Broadcast & Platform Engineering at Astro, leading the company's broadcast technology ecosystem, OTT and radio platforms, enterprise IT and facilities engineering. He drives technology innovation, platform transformation and operational excellence across Astro's media and technology landscape. With extensive experience in technical operations, engineering, systems development and news production, Niven has played a pivotal role in delivering major strategic initiatives, including Content Supply chain automation, 4K UHD services, Cloud PVR, Astro GO, Sooka and the industry's transition from SD to HD broadcasting. He is also spearheading Astro's cloud and AI strategy, leading initiatives in AI-powered content localisation, metadata enrichment, workflow automation, anti-piracy solutions and enterprise-wide digital transformation. He serves as a Board Member of the Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) and is an active contributor to industry forums and technical standards.
