Jeff Wilson is a multiple award-winning director and producer based in Bristol, U.K. He was raised in Kenya as the son of two wildlife conservationists, where he developed an intimate and extensive working knowledge of the natural world from a very early age. Those formative years led him to university, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology in 2000. His knowledge of Africa and its languages gained him his first job at the BBC Natural History Unit in 2001. He joined David Attenborough’s “Life of Mammals” series and was immediately sent back to Africa to live in a cave with elephants. Since then, Jeff has worked in over 65 countries and on all seven continents, documenting wildlife behaviour and landscapes often in the most remote parts of our planet. He has lived for years in the mountains of Pakistan tracking snow leopards, months in the jungles of Papua New Guinea observing birds of paradise, and spent more time than any other filmmaker in the company of penguins in Antarctica.

Jeff worked on the Emmy Award-winning series “Planet Earth” and “Frozen Planet” for the BBC/Discovery Channel, as well as directing feature documentaries on the Hindu Kush and the mountains of Snowdonia. In 2013, Jeff left the BBC to take on freelance work and has since directed multiple documentary features, including “Penguin” and “Polar Bear” for Disneynature. He directed the landmark wildlife series “Our Planet” for Netflix, released in April 2019, and “The Mating Game” series for BBC, released in 2021. Most recently, Jeff directed the critically acclaimed Nat Geo documentary special “Billy & Molly: An Otter Love Story” and has series produced and directed Parenthood. Jeff is currently a senior creative partner at Silverback Films in Bristol.
