Chief Architect, Youview
Jeff is a highly experienced technologist and engineer, who is currently the Chief Architect for YouView TV Limited. He has over twenty-five years of experience working in the digital broadcast, connected television and online media sectors, developing state-of-the-art technology and engineering solutions to meet new and emerging business requirements. Jeff has worked for YouView since 2008, first as a founding member of the BBC's FreeTV project, through Project Canvas, and on to the current joint-venture. Jeff has been responsible for the platform's end-to-end architecture, development of core technical specifications, device manufacturer engagement and technical support for YouView's eco-system of content providers. Prior to this Jeff worked for over 20 years for the British Broadcasting Corporation on a wide range of R&D, standardisation and delivery projects including BBC Red Button and BBC iPlayer on TV. In addition to his work on YouView, Jeff played a major role in development and deployment of technology underpinning the successful launches of Freesat and Freeview. Jeff holds a BA in Engineering and Information Science from the University of Cambridge.
