Jay Nitin Shingala

Jay Nitin Shingala is a Senior Technologist (Distinguished Member Technical Staff) in the Advanced Media Technology group at Ittiam Systems, India. His focus is on design and development of technologies focused on imaging, block-based video coding standards, AI driven video compression, AI driven XR, and Generative AI. He has more than 22 years of experience in research, design and efficient software and hardware implementations of conventional block-based video codecs such as AVC, HEVC, VVC, AV1 for different industry needs. With more than 10 patents, he is currently active in the future video coding standardization activities in MPEG / JVET (Joint Video Experts Group) with focused research on neural-network based hybrid video coding and end-to-end video compression. He is also leading the efforts of Ittiam’s Immersive Media and Reality products focused on efficient volumetric 3D representations and rendering for immersive media applications.
