Colin Phillips

Colin Phillips is a veteran of the digital TV & telecoms industries, and one of the drivers of innovation and change that marks their history. He worked in the IBA (UK) & NHK (Japan) research labs on the fundamentals of video compression & HDTV, and then followed those technologies out of the labs around the world to pioneer digital multichannel TV and VOD. He now works at BT on their EE TV IPTV service, and is focussed on the broadcast to broadband transition for TV – notably MAUD for highly scalable ABR and low latency delivery. He also has a strong interest in energy usage reduction and the application of AI/ML to all aspects of the content chain.

Colin holds a degree in Electronic Engineering. He is a BT Accomplished Engineer and Fellow of the SCTE, member of IET & SMPTE and sits on the DTG Council and DVB Steering Board.
