Christos Gavalas
Christos Gavalas is a digital journalist from Athens. He holds a BA in Business Administration from Athens University of Economics and Business, an MA in Broadcast Journalism from NYU, and a diploma of Data Journalism from Columbia University on a scholarship. He developed a deep interest in investigative documentaries and received a prestigious assistantship as a graduate student by the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Science. An ex-intern at CNN and the United Nations in NY, he then landed positions in Athens at MEGA TV’s digital desk and at the Greek version of Microsoft’s MSN. He anchored the first CNN Greece’s newscast while his interview – based show has attracted numerous academics and professionals from around the world, with whom he discussed topics of global importance. Parallel to his role as a teaching assistant at the Computational Journalism Lab of the University of Athens, he joined ATC as a Fact Checking Manager, working closely with the product development and sales teams of ATC’s media products.
