Bob Mechler
Robert (Bob) Mechler is a senior cybersecurity leader who currently serves as a Director in the Office of the CISO at Google Cloud. He is responsible for advising customers within the Telecom, Media, Entertainment and Gaming vertical. Bob has spent over two decades building and managing cybersecurity programs in the Telecommunications industry.
Previously, Bob served as Vice President and CISO for Verizon. In this capacity, he was responsible for delivery of security strategies that protected sensitive data for over 140M customers and $120B in financial transactions. Bob helped lead the way for Verizon’s secure use of public cloud computing and mobile device programs. He was also responsible for the standardization of security technology across disparate organizations.
Bob has briefed both the Verizon corporate board and state leaders on information security matters.
Bob holds a Master’s degree in Information Systems Management from Stevens Institute of Technology as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Delaware.
