The JT-NM Phase IV, Dematerialised facilities roadmap, is due to commence the standardisation process by IBC 18 / NAB 19. Chris shows examples of how production facilities are migrating to cloud based workflows. These include multi-site sharing of virtualised archives, distributed on-demand workflows, remote hosting of business continuity protection, distributed project working, and in cloud on-demand pre-processing for on premise workflows. These examples all fall within Phase IV and are real now. The JT-NM roadmap is focussed around live production, but these workflows are not live and therefore the issues of synchronisation are not applicable. Chris discusses how an acceleration of the standardisation of Phase IV, along the lines of AMWA NMOS would tame the Wild West and provide the benefits of standardisation.
