As we reach the conclusion of the SMPTE process for first round of video and audio transports over IP we look at the next steps in the JT-NM roadmap and examine what's the best way to proceed for a number of use cases. What does SMPTE 2110 do for us and where else in the workflow can we use it for non production sources such as Talkback and IFB. We consider the additional workflows needed to make production possible from Talkback/IFB, metadata and signalling for GPI's and tallies. What protocols are proposed or already exist that we can re-purpose to implement this and how do they fit into the JT-NM reference architecture and the infrastructure already implemented by many suppliers.
