What does sustainable production look like when reliability, scale and performance cannot be compromised? This Media Tech Sustainability Series (MTSS) session examines two areas in which ambitious ideas are being put into practice.
First, Sky will explore its pioneering mobile clean-power system, which combines hydrogen fuel-cell technology with sodium-ion batteries to provide a quieter, zero-emission alternative to diesel generators for film and television production. The conversation then turns to live sport, one of the industry’s most demanding production environments. Formula E and Host Broadcast Services (HBS) will share practical lessons from producing global sporting events, including the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and examine how remote and centralised workflows, smarter resource use, and new approaches to power and logistics can reduce environmental impact without diminishing the audience experience.
Together, these case studies demonstrate how sustainability can drive innovation, operational resilience and business value across media production. They also bring the Media Climate Accord (MCA) to life, showing how its commitments to greener production, more efficient digital infrastructure and sustainable distribution can be translated into practical action across the media value chain.
