Future of TV: The problem surface
The move towards Internet Delivered Video was defined by early adopters working around the trials and tribulations of making things work, not necessarily work well. That is not good enough today, and certainly not good enough when you are trying to move all consumption to the Internet.
There are changes in assumptions and understanding that consumers don't necessarily have experience of, in connecting their TV to their home router for everything. This includes dealing with support issues and problems in human speak.
• What are the modes of interactions with the viewer? Channel List, EPG, Home Screen, Voice search? All of the above?
• How are you going to explain that hiding the router in cupboard by the front door is certain to provide an incredibly bad experience for the viewer?
• How do you login with a sixteen-character password for every app from every provider when all you have is a remote control?
• What are the demographic realities of television consumption?
