For nearly 15 years DRM has been the 3rd rail of digital media. It’s presence has enabled consumers to consume content in ways never before possible. It has spurned protests and stories of its early demise. This presentation will discuss the recent history of DRM for media, it’s perceived failures and success and it’s rise to a now mandatory technology for premium online video content.

Christopher will cover the Sony Rootkit, the NHL DRM disaster, Mark Cuban’s SXSW comments, Michael Robertson’s optics, Steve Job’s failed attack on DRM and Bill Rosenblatt’s sage views on the pervasive use of DRM in the music streaming business.
