IBC Technical Paper Awards

In addition to speaking at the IBC Conference and having their work published, authors of successful IBC Technical Papers were in with the chance of winning one of our prestigious awards.

The IBC Best Conference Paper Award is in the gift of the IBC Technical Papers Committee and was awarded to the paper that they feel stands out from this year's submissions. Authors aged under 35 were also in with a chance of winning the IET Journal Young Professional Award.

IBC Best Conference Paper Award

The Technical Papers Committee provides a peer review of every paper to be presented. From their deliberations they also choose the single paper which best combines innovative thinking and clarity of presentation, with the author receiving the prestigious IBC Best Conference Paper Award.

The winner of the IBC2017 Best Conference Paper award went to a paper entitled ‘Big data for data journalism, enhanced business analytics and video recommendation at Globo’. Authors of the paper Marcelo Souza and his colleagues Joāo Castellani, Daniel Monteiro and Carlos Octávio Queiroz.

IET Young Professional Award IBC2017

Each year the IET bestows the IET Journal Young Professional Award to the best IBC Technical Paper submitted by an author aged under 35. 

This year, the winner of the IET Journal Young Professional Award 2016 was Jaclyn Pytlarz  from Dolby Laboratories for her paper entitled 'How Close is Close Enough? Specifying Colour Tolerances for HDR and WCG Displays'.
