Virtual Reality: Cinema’s companion or successor?
BIG SCREEN EXPERIENCE
18 Sep 2017
There has been almost daily interest in the topic of VR in recent years and its resonance with film-making or cinema in some way. Opinions on its cinematic potential include VR’s use as an interesting tool to promote films; others see it more fundamentally as a disruptive experience that might challenge the entire cinema business model. Involving some of key companies from the cinema sector most closely involved in VR, this session will examine the lessons learnt to date from the creation of stories to their ‘cinematic’ VR presentation, and explore where this fast-developing technology might be heading as cost and quality will only improve through time.
