Running alongside the 2018 conference program was a series of free to attend presentations and case studies hosted by IABM, IEEE/BTS, SCTE and SMPTE and associations.
For 2018 the Big Screen programme focused on how innovation in tech is allowing us to bring stories to life like never before. SMPTE, with cooperation from HPA, presented a number of sessions covering everything from 'GenZ: What the future audience wants' to 'The latest formats, the best cinematography' and featuring a special session focusing on the use of HDR in BBC's Blue Planet II and The Grand Tour.
The IABM Future Trends Theatre in the Future Zone hosted a packed programme of presentations that explored up-and-coming technology and business trends and how they will segue from today's environment. The IABM Future Trends Theatre was designed to give attendees an understanding of how new technologies can enable business plans now, rather than being dismissed as way-out ideas and possible hype waiting to find practical use cases.
Following the Tech Bytes sessions exploring some of this year's best Technical Papers, the IET Panel Sessions explored emerging themes at IBC from cyber defence in broadcast and media to immersive and learnings from other industries.
