Project 3: Solving the IP (Internet Protocol) Identity Crisis

Project 3: Solving the IP (Internet Protocol) Identity Crisis

Project Challenge Proposed by: Atos (Eviden), BBC

The move to IP infrastructure within broadcast facilities created challenges around the orchestration of media flows. The NMOS suite of specifications, created by Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), defines a common approach to device control and connection, and the recently created NMOS Resource Labelling specifications such as IS-13 address the challenge of how to find the correct device, sender or receiver when there might be thousands in a facility.

This Accelerator Challenge will aim to gather data from across the industry to establish current obstacles within this field. Utilising the data gathered, test and implementation of solutions incorporating IS-13 and dynamic routing for orchestrated infrastructure will then take place. Forming a collaborative group (many of which are AMWA incubator participants) that is actively working on the resolution for resource management in the IP world in this accelerated approach will bring great value to this industry challenge.
